Sessions, Fees & Frequently Asked Questions

Sessions

A free 30 minute initial consultation where we can talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and whether you feel I might be the right counsellor for you.

I offer 50-minute individual counselling sessions, usually on a weekly basis. We can discuss together what frequency feels appropriate for you and review this as our work progresses.

Sessions are currently offered online, giving you the flexibility to access therapy from wherever you feel comfortable.

Fees

Individual counselling — £60 per session

Reduced rate — £40 per session

I offer a limited number of reduced-fee sessions for students, trainee counsellors, OAPs, key workers, people receiving benefits and those experiencing financial hardship.

If the standard fee is difficult for you but you'd like to explore counselling, please get in touch. I'm happy to discuss your circumstances and see whether a reduced fee may be possible.

Not sure whether counselling is right for you?

You don't need to be certain before getting in touch. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation.

If you'd like to explore whether we could work together, you're welcome to arrange a free initial consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in the first session?

Our first session is an opportunity to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has brought you to counselling. You don't need to have everything worked out beforehand or know exactly what you want to talk about. We can take some time to understand what you're experiencing and what you're hoping therapy might offer you.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions. However, this isn't fixed. We'll discuss what feels appropriate for you and can review the frequency of sessions as our work develops.

How long will I need counselling for?

There isn't a set number of sessions. Some people come to counselling with a particular difficulty they want to work through, while others want to spend longer exploring themselves, their relationships and patterns that have developed over time. We'll regularly reflect on how therapy is progressing together.

What if I've never had counselling before?

That's completely okay. You don't need any previous experience of therapy, and you don't need to know how counselling works. I'll guide you through the process and we'll take things at a pace that feels comfortable.

What if I don't know what to talk about?

You don't need to arrive with something prepared. Sometimes simply beginning with “I don't really know where to start” can be the beginning of a useful conversation. We can work things out together.

Will you tell me what I should do?

My role isn't to tell you how to live your life or make decisions for you. Instead, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and choices together, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself so that you can make decisions that feel right for you.

Is counselling confidential?

What you share in counselling is treated as confidential, with some important professional and safeguarding exceptions. I'll explain confidentiality and its limits clearly when we begin working together.

Can I have a consultation before deciding?

Yes. I offer a free initial consultation where we can talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you're looking for and whether you feel we might be a good fit to work together.

Do I have to be diagnosed with a mental health condition to have counselling?

No. You don't need a diagnosis to come to counselling. You may simply feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, unhappy, or want to understand yourself and your relationships better. Therapy can be a space to explore these experiences without needing to put a particular label on them.
